The Ear Conditioning of an Idiot.
People, who have chosen to ride the coat tails of the top 40 music realm, have conditioned their ears and minds to computer programmed music production and creation. Since many recent releases that the big knobbed record labels of popular music have shat out on to the cold concrete floor, which is the uncultured ear; are musically perfect (according to musical law but is debatably music at all). 'They' (heathens?) are perturbed by off beats, out of sync drums, and improvisation, giving an increase in the demand of lip-syncing (keep the masses happy). This making jazz, older recording, recordings of 'real' instruments and experimental musical offerings inaccessible as their brain can't fit the triangle piece in the square hole.

People haven't "chosen" to closely follow top 40 music and all that it entails. It's a careful conditioning process, and a form of hegemony, that ensures that the record labels and "entertainment" companies can continue to make money. Sure, people listen to shit music, but it's the responsibility of true artists (ie. those who aren't operating primarily for a profit) to give them an alternative and overthrow this long entrenched system. Simply insulting these people isn't going to achieve anything. When referring to people, comments like 'their brain can't fit the triangle piece in the square hole' are just a bit ignorant.
ReplyDeleteObviously that last comment was more a joke. It was all written in jest, just making a point that some forms of mainsteam popular music is controlling and limiting.
